everyone is invited to richard and joke's big lunch at Manor Barn, cockering road
It will be a shared lunch, we will be using as much produce from our garden as we can. It is a chance to get together with like minded people, enjoy some good local food and have lively discussions on how to take to make Canterbury a more sustainable place to live in.
All you have to do is go to the big lunch website put in your post code and you will see we are listed local lunch and then register to say that you will attend.
We hope to see as many of you as possible

Transition Skills Directory
We are a creating a ‘Transition Skills Directory’ for those who have ‘transition’ skills that they would be prepared to share with others in the local community. The primary aim of the Directory is as a source of information that can be used to make links and contacts between people for the sharing of skills, information and knowledge useful to facing the twin problems of peak oil and climate change. The idea is not to assume, necessarily, that this would involve a direct swap, although it might be, but for it to be used to make mutually beneficial arrangements to enable everyone to 'skill up', or find the help they need from within the local community.

For example, the skills people have already added to the directory include fruit and veg growing, bread making, patchwork, repairing clothes, fruit tree pruning, introduction to permaculture talks, consensus-decision making…

If you would like to be included, please email Isobel (isobeltomlinson@hotmail.co.uk) your name, email contact and a list of skills you are offering. Alternatively, if you have some skills you don't yet have but would also like to learn in the future, please let us know. We are also hoping that this information will be used to arrange skills sharing workshops, so please also indicate which, if any, of your skills you would be prepared to explain / show in a short workshop.

No plastic bags in Canterbury

"If you feel you would like to put your weight behind this campaign, then please sign up on the night (18th May) - a list will be provided. After that, make sure to look out for events/activities relating to the plastic bag issue - our main method of communication will be googlemail and email. Where we can, we'll work with the council (especially in tackling shop behaviour) but we'll also do things off our own bat. We'll look for opportunities to work with some of the other towns in the area as well. Hope for lots of support."
